My Clients
Young Professionals
In contemporary American society, more and more seems required of us in every sphere of life. Many young professionals face nontrivial dilemmas negotiating personal and societal expectations and navigating significant developmental milestones (family and relationships, employment, relocation, etc.). There are challenges to leading a sustainable yet authentic life.
I help clients navigate these and other major life decisions and transitions. I can assist you in establishing self-assurance in your values and commitments and designing a life that optimizes new opportunities for growth and success. Specific issues addressed include effective self-management, exploring and changing careers, and healthy love and relationships.
Members of the Asian American Community
Asian Americans are a diverse and expanding demographic group in the United States but among the least acknowledged and served in behavioral healthcare. We have shared cultural and historical experiences and individual differences in beliefs, values, and circumstances. This combination requires a dimensional and personalized approach to our psychology.
My practice welcomes Asian Americans and persons of color of all intersectionalities, and I often work with men of color. I attend closely to key dimensions of each client’s identity and how societal forces may impact their concerns. Specific issues addressed include bicultural competence, gender roles, and coping with culture-specific and racism-related stress.
Members of the LGBTQ Community
Despite significant political strides made for LGBTQ rights and representation in recent history, increasing legislative rollbacks nationwide have incurred nontrivial challenges to the health and safety of our communities. Queer people face resurgent questions of authenticity and belonging while counteracting evolving forms of stigma and violence.
My practice is LGBTQ-affirming. However, I welcome clients of all circumstances regarding their sexual orientation and gender identity. Specific issues addressed include coming out and identity management, coping with minority stress, and sexual and relationship health.

My Clinical Approach
Sessions with me are conversational yet evocative—inviting you to reflect deeply to foster new, expansive ways of being.
In my practice, I carefully consider each client’s unique concerns and circumstances to craft an approach personalized to their needs and goals. I do not have a formula or a one-size-fits-all strategy. A matching fit and collaborative relationship between the client and myself are crucial determinants of success, confirmed by extensive empirical research.
Broadly, I emphasize personal insight and empowered action as essential mechanisms of therapeutic change. In our sessions, key themes may include:
Understanding developmental and environmental influences on your personality.
Identifying unconscious needs and conflicts behind your thoughts and habits, including hard-to-change patterns in your relationship to self and others.
Integrating challenging emotions and experiences to renew your sense of self.
Clarifying your values and priorities to promote autonomous life decisions.
Determining and executing behavior change to foster new, positive experiences.
Optimizing your strengths and talents while moderating recurrent vulnerabilities.
My evidence-based practice strategically integrates several psychotherapy systems:
Primarily, I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy—we explore how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious motivations and conflicts shape your present-day ability to handle life’s challenges and capacity for fulfillment.
I employ cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques—we examine how patterns of thinking affect your feelings and actions and vice versa. We collaboratively facilitate desired changes in your thoughts and behaviors as appropriate.
Finally, I utilize multicultural counseling—we consider how key cultural, historical, and sociopolitical factors influence your lived experience and mental health. We affirm and incorporate these components into your psychotherapy as appropriate.
Ready to meet your best self?
Investing in your psychological health can be among the most rewarding and life-changing decisions. I am committed to assisting you in navigating new pathways to clarity, personal freedom, and self-actualization.
